Compare Domain Prices Across 152 Registrars

When you're buying a domain, prices can be confusing. The same domain can cost you $2 at one registrar and $18 at another. These price differences are part of how registrars compete for customers. As a buyer, you can use that competition to your advantage, and that's why we built DomainOffer.

We built this price comparison tool so you don't have to open 10 browser tabs and spend hours searching for hidden promotions and the best overall value. Our system now tracks 3,349 domain extensions across 152 registrars and updates prices automatically every few hours.

What Is Domain Price Comparison?

Domain price comparison means checking the same domain's price across multiple registrars to see which registrar offers the best value. Comparing domain prices can stop you from overpaying for the same domain that you could buy for less from another registrar.

How Comparing Domain Prices Saves Money

Saving money on a domain isn't just about finding a $0.99 promo for the first year. Chasing that promo can cost you even more in the long term. Most registrars give you the lowest promo for the first year and then charge you higher renewal prices over time.

In the price comparison table, we show you the registration price side by side with the renewal price so you can see when a domain is $1 for the first year but $19 to renew. We can also help you find a registrar that charges $5 for the first year and $9 for renewals, saving you $10 every year after that. This matters most when you look at the total three-year or five-year cost.

However, if you are buying a domain only for the first year to start your project, we can find you the cheapest promo available right now. Next to the renewal price, we also show the transfer price, so you can compare transfer prices across multiple registrars and move your already-registered domain from your current registrar to one that offers the cheapest renewals.

Finding the Right Domain Extension

Most website owners pick a popular domain extension like .com or .net as their first choice, but if it is unavailable, they may pick a random extension for their website. But a domain is not just a name; it's an identity on the internet. What you're building, whom you're building it for, and which technical features you need all matter when you choose a domain extension.

For example, if DNS security is important for your website, choose a domain extension and registrar that support DNSSEC. If you want to protect your personal registration details, choose a domain extension that supports a WHOIS privacy service.

That's what our filters are for. Use the filters on the table above to narrow and sort results by price, domain level, and security features.

How to Use the Filters

Use the "Sort By" dropdown above the comparison table to order results by price or relevance. Use the "Filter" button to narrow the results by renewal price, transfer cost, DNSSEC support, WHOIS privacy, domain level, or domain category.

You can also use the "Duration" filter to compare estimated costs over 1–10 years. For example, selecting three years lets you compare the first-year registration price plus two renewal years.

The "Currency" filter converts prices into a supported currency of your choice, making it easier to compare costs in your local currency.

Why Domain Prices Vary Between Registrars

You may have noticed that the price differences between registrars seem random, but they're not. Here's what's actually happening.

The Registry vs. Registrar

Every domain extension has a registry, which is the organization that owns and manages that extension. For example, Verisign operates .com and .net. Its .com wholesale registry fee increased to $10.26 per year in September 2024 and is scheduled to rise to $10.97 on November 1, 2026.

The Loss Leader

Many registrars sell a first year below cost to attract customers. A $0.99 .com is a loss on paper, and registrars make the money back when you buy hosting or email, or renew that domain at a high price.

The Real Cost with Fees and Renewals

Finding a low first-year price is not hard; you can find it using our price comparison table above. However, finding a registrar that won't overcharge you later requires more research, and our filters can help you with that.

ICANN Fees

ICANN charges a mandatory fee of $0.20 per applicable transaction on most generic top-level domains. Some registrars include it in their price or absorb it; others add it at checkout.

WHOIS Privacy

Some registrars provide WHOIS privacy protection free; others charge for it. That extra charge can raise your total cost at checkout.

Renewal Price Increases

A $0.99 domain can renew at more than $20. Check the regular renewal rate in the table before you commit.

Transfer Lock

For many generic top-level domains, you cannot transfer a newly registered domain to another registrar during its first 60 days.

Transfers

You can save money by transferring a domain from your current registrar to the cheapest one. The trick is to register the domain at a low price first and then move it:

1
Register at the lowest first-year price

Use the table above to find the cheapest registrar for your domain.

2
Wait at least 60 days

The ICANN-mandated 60-day transfer lock must expire before you can move the domain.

3
Find a low transfer price

A transfer can cost less than renewing at your current registrar.

4
Initiate the transfer

Most registrars automatically add one year to your current expiration date when the transfer completes.

Compare the transfer price with the renewal price at your current registrar. A transfer may offer better value, especially when it includes an additional year, but the actual savings depend on the transfer fee and applicable registration rules.

Note: Start the transfer process at least two weeks before expiration to avoid technical delays.

Long-Term Cost Calculator

Every registrar-specific domain extension pricing page has a cost calculator. You can open the page by clicking the "View Details" link in the price comparison table. This calculator estimates the total domain cost over 1–100 years using current renewal rates.

The math behind this calculator:

Total Cost = First-Year Price + (Renewal Price × Remaining Years)

Example: You find a .com for $1.99 in the first year with a $15.99 renewal rate. Over five years, you will pay $65.95:

$1.99 + ($15.99 × 4) = $65.95 total

Now compare it with a registrar that charges $8.99 per year with no first-year discount:

$8.99 × 5 = $44.95 total

You can see that the registrar that looks "more expensive" actually saves you $21 over five years. This is exactly why we built this calculator.

You can also use the "Duration" filter above the price comparison table to see the long-term cost directly within the table, using a basic calculation. For a detailed calculation, you can use our cost calculator on registrar-specific domain extension pricing pages.

Important: Renewal prices can change, and registries occasionally raise wholesale rates. The calculator uses current rates, so treat the result as an estimate.

Historical Price Charts

Domain prices fluctuate frequently. Although we've been tracking domain prices since 2022, we only started storing weekly snapshots for our historical charts on November 28, 2025.

Two Ways to View Price History

Extension-Level View

Click the "+ more" button on any domain in the table to open that domain extension's price comparison page and see which registrar has been cheapest over time on the historical chart. This helps you identify whether a deal is temporary or stable.

Registrar-Level View

Click "View Details" for a specific registrar to see its pricing history for that domain extension. Has its registration or renewal rate increased recently? The historical chart will show you.

Market Comparison

Open "View Details" for any registrar to reach its pricing page, where we place that registrar's price next to the prices of the big registrars, so you can compare it with theirs.

Challenge This Offer

Every registrar-specific domain extension pricing page has a "Challenge This Offer" tool. Pick any registrar in our database, and the tool builds a side-by-side table on the spot. It's helpful when you are comparing two registrars for the same domain before you buy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Which registrar is cheapest in 2026?

There is no single cheapest registrar. Spaceship and Porkbun often offer the lowest prices on popular domain extensions like .com and .xyz, while Dynadot and NameSilo often have better prices on niche extensions. Prices change often, so check our price comparison table for the cheapest registrar right now.

Q: Can I compare renewal and transfer prices, not just first-year prices?

Yes. You can use the "Price Type" filter to switch between registration, renewal, and transfer prices. Renewal prices matter most when you look at the total three-year or five-year cost.

Q: Are all these registrars legitimate?

We only track ICANN-accredited registrars and other established resellers.

Q: Why does domain price comparison show different prices?

Registrars often run flash sales or limited-time promotions for first-year registrations. Our system updates prices automatically every few hours, so these deals show up in the table soon after they start. Some registrars also include ICANN fees and WHOIS privacy in their displayed price, while others add them at checkout. Our tool tries to account for these differences, but the final price can still vary depending on the registrar's current promotions.

Q: Is the cheapest option in domain price comparison always the best?

Not necessarily. A domain that costs $0.99 for the first year but $25 to renew costs $50.99 over three years, while a domain that costs $10 for both registration and renewal costs $30. Always check the regular renewal price and the registrar's reputation, such as support and security features, not just the lowest first-year price.

Q: Why do some domain extensions show "N/A" for pricing?

Not all registrars offer every domain extension. "N/A" means either the registrar doesn't sell that extension or our system is unable to get current pricing data.

Q: How often is this data updated?

We update prices automatically every few hours. Promotional prices can change without notice, so if you find a deal you like, don't wait too long to register.
